The days of being the laughing stock of the WoW communities are coming to an end. In WotLK, balance druids are receiving many changes that will not only allow their damage to be consistently stronger, but also will allow them to consistently being doing damage, with many mana, utility, and even a couple of survivability talents being entered into the tree.
In this blog, I will break down the new talents and new changes to old talents, as well as post some top secret information on new make ups that are going to change the face of WoW arena PvP as we know it.
http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=0Two big changes that you notice right away with these talents are Nature's Reach giving 30% threat reduction, no longer forcing you to go into the resto tree for PvE, as well as roots being allowed in doors (not a talent, but huge for PvE and leveling up). These two changes alone will make moonkin much better in group settings, now not having as bad of threat if they want to have a PvP spec, and also allowing them to cc, the biggest gripe of the moonkin community at large. While Resto druids can do this too, moonkins bring with them a great 5% crit aura, something that will make them more enticing for the more normal folk who want to do instances .
The next big change is to nature's grace, allowing wrath to not only be affected by the .5 seconds off with cast time, but now the GCD will be changed as well. This is a huge increase in moonkin dps for PvP, and it will make our burst capabilities, combined with a wrath of elune proc from the PvP sets, very, very strong.
Moonkin form is also finally being changed to give 2% mana back on spell crits. It's about damn time, no more retarded melee for mana.
Imp. Moonkin form is the first new talent we see, and it is a great one. This talent basically allows for Moonkin to not have to gear or gem for spell haste, instead getting an amazing 20% for 10 seconds, instead allowing us to gem completely for spell crit, a stat that is extremely beneficial to Moonkin now, much more so then before. I was also being selfish, considering this spell haste buff affects everyone in the group afflicted by the aura, pretty kahrazie.
Owlkin Frenzy is another new talent, finally giving Moonkin some basic spell interruption that is desperately needed when fighting rogues and hunters, as well as being focused in arena. No longer will you have to just DoT people and attempt to get off cyclones, you will now be able to spam starfire while being focused, with 10% extra damage to boot! People will think twice before focusing Balance Druids.
PvE Side note: Improved Faerie Fire finally changed to give spells 3% chance to hit as well as melee and ranged, making it not such a drain of points when PvEing.
Now onto the good stuff.
Typhoon: Possibly the best new spell for Balance druids in the expansion, this talent is going to single handedly change the way Balance druids play. Like cyclone was for BC, typhoon shall be for Balance druids in WotLK. This spell will not only do a decent amount of damage, but it will also knock the target back, interrupting their casts or buying the balance druid valuable time to get a cyclone or root off against melee opponents.
This spell is a lifesaver for druids, as previously we had no instant spells (besides war stomp, and that's not fair to my nubelf friends) that could provide us with breathing room or interrupt spell casts, and now we have both. Mark my words, you shall be typhooned, and you won't be happy about it!!!
Treants are getting their cd reduced to 2 minutes, a fair change considering they don't attack the target you assign them to most of the time so now they have twice the chance to fail. The good news is brambles is also being changed
